New Cairo

New Cairo is one of the new third generation cities in Egypt, located in Cairo Governorate. The city is administratively affiliated with the New Urban Communities Authority, and was established by decision of the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt No. 191 in December 2000. New Cairo is one of the largest new cities in Egypt, as it extends over an area estimated at 85 thousand acres, and an additional 15 thousand acres were added by decision No. 499 of 2016.

The city includes several major residential communities, most notably the Fifth Settlement, in addition to Al-Rehab, the First Settlement, the Third Settlement, and others. New Cairo is located east of Cairo, and is bordered to the east by the Ring Road, while it extends between the Cairo-Suez Road and the Cairo-Ain Sokhna Road.
